Kiwanis Division 37

Lt. Gov. Ollie Casteel

Announcements

Well, it has been an exciting, rewarding, and fun first two weeks as Division 37's Lieutenant Governor.

The positively great hospitality of the clubs at their meetings and banquets was outstanding. The programs or entertainment was first rate. The food was good too!

The opportunity afforded me at these affairs to meet people and talk about Kiwanis and the efforts to increase membership, continue and enhance the service projects, and have fun is an exceptional experience
that I will long remember.

Everyone was supportive of my efforts to speak. That is greatly appreciated.

It was an honor to meet your retiring officers and induct the incoming officers. These excellent inductees will guide the clubs through the next Kiwanis year. There will be trials and roadblocks along the way.
There will be challenges and opportunities. Everyone of you can count on the support of their club members, the other clubs, the past lieutenant governors we have in our division and myself.

Already, Division 37 clubs are working hard to build a new club at the Highland Springs Retirement Community in Richardson. Bill Clark, Bill Schaid, and Marshall Kregel have put in much effort to get this club rolling. Other Kiwanians from the Plano and Richardson clubs are also involved in showing and giving support and exhibiting the Kiwanis spirit of cooperation to get it done.

This club is in the corner of Richardson near the Plano and northern Dallas lines. The area is also near the intersection of Collin, Dallas, and Denton counties. What an unique place to have what will become our
twelfth club!

There have been clubs with new members inducted recently, among them are Mckinney, Suburban Northwest, and Rockwall. Suburban NW leads with ten new members added this past year. What a great accomplishment.

These clubs, along with White Rock, have all achieved Distinguished Club status for 2007 – 2008. Congratulations to all four of these great clubs!

Ollie Casteel, Lt. Gov. Div. 37

Division 37 is a vital part of T/O District, Kiwanis International.  Thru the efforts of the past Lt. Governors it has grown into an active and caring Division.  Each past Lt. Governor has left this Division better off than when they started.  This has happened not only through their efforts but also due to the efforts of the members.  They have always supported their Lt. Governor and their projects.

This year we need to focus on New Members and Membership retention.  If we do not put forth a strong program in each of our clubs and as a Division we will lose members and clubs.  There is a TAG team that is in place to help you with any facet of membership.  You can have them come and speak to your club and help with a membership drive.

There are many things a club and its members can do to keep Kiwanis healthy.

bullet

Ask everyone that you feel is of good character to go with you to a meeting.  Then go pick them up!

bullet

Follow up on visitors and speakers and ask if they would like to join.

bullet

Have meetings at the same time each week.  Do not skip meetings.

bullet

Have a program at each meeting

bullet

Have fun!  Keep the meetings upbeat.

bullet

Have service projects for members, and get to know each other.

bullet

Have socials

bullet

Have fund raisers

bullet

Make sure you have a good communication system in place for your members.  Call list, newsletters etc.

The Biggest Problem with communication is the illusion that it has occurred.

If you get a new member remember to send the information to Kiwanis International and also to Chuck Rager.  This is part of the Growth Recognition Program.
